This project plays with the line between organic and artificial. The shapes themselves are drawn from leaves, seaweed and microbiology, but the colours are bold, naive and primary, like a kid’s colouring box. The pieces are slab built from white stoneware, cut freehand speedily as possible to capture some movement. The surfaces are deliberately left quite ‘touched’ before coating in high performance automotive spray, so the gloss industrial finish contrasts with the handbuilt surface.
